Tricking My Cold Lover

The Personal Bodyguard

The Personal Bodyguard

0It was getting dark in Seoul, Korea, and on top of one of the tallest hotel in the city, The Four Seasons Hotel, was where Yanmei and Anton were having a romantic dinner.

Lights were already turned on at the decorated rooftop restaurant and bar. The male singer of a band, standing from the intimate stage, began to sing the songs of Robbie Williams.

Yanmei watched amazingly as the signer give justice to the song Angels, remember the days of having karaoke with her best friend, Garry.

When the song was finished, she turned to Anton and said, "I like this song... Anyhow, back to business... Let's see if we got our details correct now. Ready for a quiz?"

They had earlier asked each other about themselves so they can further prove to others that they were truly a couple.

Following Yanmei's recommendation, Anton nodded, suggesting for her to begin.

Placing both her elbows against the table, Yanmei cleared her throat and asked, "What's my name, age, work, and family background?"

"Xia Yanmei, twenty-eight - old if I may say - used to hold an operations manager's position at The Royal Dragon Corporation, China, only to give it up because she was too lazy to put an end to her father's madness," Anton said without expression. When he heard about her father's schemes, it irked him to the core.

Yanmei frowned at his remark. Just when the mood of their dinner date had turned pleasant. He just had to be himself. "At least I don't look that old, not like you. You are still thirty-two, but you look like thirty-five!"

He shrugged and asked, "What's the difference between thirty-two and thirty-five?"

"Well, you should shave your face a lot often and don't grow your hair too long so you will look younger," she said. "And I was not being lazy with my father, I just found it too troublesome to have to deal with him."

Before Anton could react, Yanmei said, "My turn. Anton Li now Anton Yeong, but those who know you well call you Yeong - also old. Much older than me. You dedicated your entire life to growing the Yeong empire since your adoption."

Anton merely shook his head at her retaliation. "My turn to ask. What am I allergic to?"

"Women!" She said before giving a fake smile. Anton had earlier insisted to point it out when an opportunity arise. This way, other women would dare not come an inch closer to him.

"Except for me. Other than your mom and your sisters, I am the first woman you showed any affection to - some affection by the way." Added Yanmei and as she said the last line, her eyes rolled, trying to express sarcasm.

"It's true," he said, acknowledging the fact that Yanmei was in fact the first woman he had given attention to.

"What?" Yanmei asked, completely confused.

"Nothing. Next question," said Anton before wiping his mouth with a napkin.

"Who are my closest friends?" Asked Yanmei.

"The girl, Garry and your cousin, Xia Ping."

"Who is my right-hand man at the arms factory?" It was Anton's turn to ask.

"Oh, oh… Han-joon. That's right, and he is currently in China, protecting Andy - but for what?"

Anton was taken aback. He did not know how to explain that he and her sister lived a dangerous life that he could only say, "Protect Andy… protect Andy from any of Lu Fang's bed climbers. She is pregnant after all."

Yanmei's eyes grew wide, but she clearly remembered how many women were desperate for her older cousin, Xia Ting that she nodded and laughed at the thought of having a personal bodyguard for that purpose. Then a sudden realization hit her. She looked back at a recent encounter of being threatened. "Wait… Baek Hei-ran. Do I need protection too?"

Instantly, Anton's eyes narrowed. He looked at Yanmei seriously and said, "I - I supposed. You are right. It is then imperative that I - I take you home every day."

"Just - just a precaution," he added.

She bit her lip as her brows furrowed. "Right… or a bodyguard."

"All my men are busy protecting both factories. I am more convenient," said Anton.

"Oh, Anton Yeong, the CEO of JWK Investments and a personal bodyguard to Xia Yanmei. Haha! I like the idea."

"Hmmmm..."

While Anton and Yanmei were getting to know each other on a deeper level, back in Guangzhou, Bai Han continued to check Yanmei's photos from his phone. He was still at his office at Bai Industries as he kept leaving comments, suggesting that she looked beautiful.

He was leaning back against his chair, occasionally letting out a smile.

"What are you looking at?" Yi Meixu came entering the door. Bai Han was so absorbed in looking at Yanmei's photos that he did not notice his wife's arrival.

The earlier smile on Bai Han's face immediately disappeared. He put down the phone on his table and directed his attention to his wife. He said, "Xuxu, it's nothing. Why are you here?"

"I - felt so depressed, I wanted to see you," said Yi Meixu as she took a seat in front of his table.

A pang of guilt suddenly crept into Bai Han's heart. It had been months since she had lost their baby. She told him that she became upset about the continued conflict between her father and Yanmei. That ultimately may have contributed to her miscarriage.

Since then, Yi Meixu had received his undivided attention, feeling sorry for the loss of their child.

"Then, let's have dinner that way you'll get your mind off things," suggested Bai Han. "I'll just go to the bathroom and we can get going."

Bai Han closed his laptop and went inside his private bathroom.

Curious as to what made her husband smile, she grabbed his phone and the moment she unlocked it, Yanmei's Instagram photos were the first thing she saw. She gritted her teeth at the sight of Yanmei's elegant features as she wore a luxurious-looking dress.

'Yanmei - You! When will ever stop getting involved with my husband!'

She quickly put down Bai Han's phone and sent a message to her father which said, "Father, Sister Yanmei is still after Bai Han. After all this time. She made me lose my child, and she probably knows about it and is coming after Bai Han again."

Xia Zihao answered after a minute and said, "It looks like Yanmei has not learned her lesson. Don't worry. I'll find out exactly where she is and teach her a lesson once and for all."

An evil smile reflected on her face. She pulled out her phone and went in search of Yanmei's Instagram profile. Unfortunately, it did not seem like she had followed Yanmei in the past, but knowing there were other ways, she logged-in using her husband's account and took it upon herself to monitor Yanmei's activity.

"My dearest sister. I feel sorry for you... You have lost so much," Yi Meixu said before twitching the corner of her lips.
