Entering the City

Entering the City

1"And in the center of the region, there is a palace which is the residence of the Royal Family; that is where the Yin clan is located." Tang Ji explained the structure of the Yin kingdom.

Hearing all of Tang Ji's explanations, Liu Kang nodded slightly, "Then, Is our current destination the inner region?"

"No." Tang Ji shook his head, then continued, "To meet someone I know, we must first draw their attention to that royal family member to come see us. The Yin Clan is very wary of outside cultivators because there was once an incident of rebelliousness in the inner region because they used to allow cultivators in and out of the inner region."

"Looks like it's going to be difficult." Liu Kang frowned, then looked at Tang Ji and asked again, "Then, what do we do to attract the attention of the Royal family? We will stay in the outer territory of everything you described."

"Yeah, you're right. And the first thing we do is stay in the outer region; after that, we'll look for an organization that works behind the scenes because that organization has a lot of members living in the outer region." Tang Ji replied.

"Of course, all of that will work because it's through them that we can find someone I know, and who I know is one of the three princes who will usurp the next Throne in the Yin kingdom." Tang Ji smirked.

Liu Kang was surprised to hear that if Tang Ji's connection were one of the three princes, naturally, getting what they wanted from the thing they took from Elder Lin Yuan would not be difficult. And all that only to find an ancient relic that Tang Ji said.

From all this, Liu Kang had speculated that if the place opened, there would be a lot of fighting going on, and Tang Ji, who gave away one of the seven items for free, would get a free hand to deal with the Lin clan though it might not be that big of a deal, it served to weaken the Lin Clan.

There was also another speculation in Liu Kang's mind about the plan they would carry out. Tang Ji could start a war somehow and use the Yin kingdom to wipe out the Lin Clan for trying to hide something related to historical relics.

The four had arrived at the giant gate, where they entered the city without realizing it.

"March! You guys have to do an inspection!" shouted one of the guards as he inspected the items carried in the carriages by several cultivators or ordinary civilians from other villages or towns who had come to trade.

Liu Kang stared at it in astonishment, "Is it necessary to have such an examination?"

Seeing Liu Kang's astonished face, Tang Ji immediately explained, "No need to worry; it's just a deliberate inspection. Naturally, some guards will take advantage of weak merchants or cultivators when entering the city."

"Ah," Liu Kang immediately understood and was not surprised.

Everything that happened there was noticed by Liu Kang. Several guards made things seem difficult for the merchants, and in the end, they paid a slightly high price to get into the city. Thinking back on the cruel world of cultivators, such a thing looked unpleasant. But when it comes to cultivators who are more ruthless, the things that happen at the gate are just plain mundane.

At the large gate, more than 60 guards took turns checking on all who entered; occasionally, It would only invite some powerful cultivators to enter after paying the entrance fee.

That incident also made Liu Kang a little disgusted. But this world is a place of oppressing the weak and respecting the strong. Weak are losers, and strong are heroes.

Like when Liu Kang was on earth, the rich were kings, and the poor were vagrants.

He understood how that felt because he was one of the wealthiest families in his town.

In any world, such laws will remain in effect forever.

After nearly half an hour of queuing, Liu Kang's group finally reached the gate.

The guards wrinkled slightly as they sensed Tang Ji's cultivation level being the strongest among them.

"One gold coin per person. If you want to enter the Central region, It will also charge a fee. But you must give your identity to the guards there." The guard didn't beat around the bush and only asked Liu Kang's group for an entrance fee.

Even hearing the numbers, Liu Kang wrinkled a little because it seemed that the Royal Family took a lot of money or was it just the guards. No one knows who made such regulations; even in the previous Wuhrang city, the entrance fee was very cheap.

Tang Ji didn't speak at all and tossed four gold coins at the guard. It was a little for a cultivator of their level.

After paying, the guards let Liu Kang's group inside.

"Investigate who they are. If there is a strange identity, report it immediately, this can also be an addition for us to collect a lot of gold coins or other resources through information." The head guard who saw Liu Kang's group go inside immediately gave orders to his subordinates.

"Understood." Several guards immediately went to investigate Liu Kang's group identity.

Meanwhile, Tang Ji had already expected such a thing to happen. But he didn't care at all. The Yin Kingdom was a very large city, only for the outer region. It was about ten times larger than the city of Wuhrang, one of the largest cities in the Yin kingdom. Even if someone knew the information or were hunting for it, it would take a very long time for someone to find it.

"Let's go to an old acquaintance's place. He is the first place for the current information network in the Yin kingdom." Tang Ji said as he moved westward.

Liu Kang, Tang Kong, and Tang Kuan just followed after nodding in agreement. Of course, it is important to have someone to help gather information.

During the trip, Liu Kang kept an eye on everything in the outer realm. As Tang Ji said, various kinds of people kept popping up in that place, many of them being cultivators who looked like they were being hunted and so on. No wonder the Yin Clan wouldn't care too much about what was happening in the outer region because they would surely find that place extremely despised.

After less than 1 hour of walking, the four arrived at a fairly large building; in that place, too many people were passing by.
