Hero of Darkness

Infinite Possibilities

Infinite Possibilities

3On the second day of training in Artificing, just like before, Throk started explaining the ins and outs of the craft to build Kahn and Blackwall's sturdy foundation and thus, he started with the advanced knowledge from the get-go after seeing how much potential both of them had displayed after receiving the enlightenment.

He drew the sign of two overlapping circles curved and connected to each other.

"Do you know what this sign represents?" he asked.

"Infinity." replied Kahn the very next moment.

"Hah? Did you read about it in the books?"

"Ah… yes." replied the human disciple.

Kahn was a man of science in his previous life. So he obviously recognized the infinity ( ∞ ) sign.

"Let me ask you something.

Imagine that this is a flow of mana and world energy represented through this sign.

Can you tell me what principle this sign represents?" he asked in a serious voice.

"Limitlessness." spoke Blackwall although he had no prior knowledge about this sign like Kahn.

"What does this signify to you?" asked Throk to Kahn.

"No true end, incalculable, something that is impossible to be quantified." he replied like the true nerd he was in past life as Elric.

"Good. How would you two feel if I told you that we can apply the same principle while carving runes?" asked the old dwarf with a coy smile.

To his statement… both the disciples had their eyes wide open.

"Impossible! Mana and world energy don't work like that." spoke Blackwall.

"Ha ha! Then tell me something… Where is the point of origin and where is the end.

Also, which direction is it flowing in?"

To his question… both Kahn and Blackwall were too stunned to speak.

Because if this logic could be used in Rune carving… there were simply infinite possibilities.

"Now do you understand how Runes can sustain and integrate themselves?" asked Throk as he tested the cleverness of his disciples.

Both Kahn and Blackwall spoke in unison as they finally understood why Runes worked the way they did… they finally understood the very foundation of Runes and Artificing itself after coming to this mind-boggling realization.

"Self-reforming, self-regenerating and most importantly… self-sustaining."

Author's Notice : Regardless of where and when you're reading… keep reading the whole thing.

Recently, I uploaded two proxy chapters and here's my explanation to the readers.

The thing is… there has been a serious situation in my family.

My younger sister, who also suffers from Sickle Cell Anemia just like me, was hospitalized and her situation is very serious.

And like every unannounced calamity, this one also struck our family when we least expected it. But there were several things that made me lose my composure and go as far as posting fake chapters even if it meant pissing off my privileged readers, most of whom are truly understanding people.

Some may feel like this is nagging and many will outright ignore it but let me inform you about my real-life situation first.

I'm doing writing as a full-time job. I don't have any other source of income aside from it. And whatever I earn, most of it goes to paying for my parent's loans and debts.

Also, I pay for my sister's living expenses who lives in a different city due to her education.

As some of you might already know, we Webnovel authors barely receive only 30% of income earned through subscribers and daily readers after paying additional taxes on what we've earned. The same rule applies to privileged chapters. So most of whatever I earn from writing Hero of Darkness… I don't even spend it on myself and barely manage to save a fraction of it every month.

And by dealing with stress and physical pain on a daily basis, we manage to write a chapter or two for the novel. This is the same for many other authors on Webnovel.

I can't speak for others but at least for me, it's just way too taxing and yet I do it everyday since people pay for reading the chapters.

Recently, I was forced to take a break for a week because of my health issues but even then, I only took rest for 3 days and returned to writing just to meet the monthly mass release quota.

I have not fully recovered even now and I'm still writing despite my situation. I know many will advise me to take some time but sadly, reality doesn't work like that.

Just 7 days of break last month has already affected the income greatly.

I know some will say, "I didn't pay coins to read Author's blabbering and complaints." and stuff. But this issue must be addressed even if it risks me losing some readers.

So what happened is that when my sister's situation became serious… no one was prepared for it and obviously, my parents had no money.

And only because I managed to save up some money from the payout I received 2 months ago, were we able to manage to admit her into the hospital.

The doctor has advised surgery to ease her pain and not cause furthermore harm to her physical health. Luckily, I had enough saved up despite all these expenses I have been paying for which are not even my own.

A price you have to pay as a responsibility as the eldest son and a brother.

But then… I saw how some of these pirate sites shamelessly even leak the privileged chapters. And the audacity of these bastards is that they put their name on it as an official site or use programs to alter W.E.B.N.O.V.E.L. Into their site name.

Because of this occurrence, some people think that I actually write on those sites and thus have no idea of real official channels.

Among them, Stephen from a certain site… If you're reading this, I would like to express my gratitude to you in the following words :

"You are a real piece of shit.

Nah, like a real piece of shit.

Like if a piece of shit ate a piece of shit, and took a piece of shit, You're that piece of shit."

Upload this chapter on your site if you have the balls and you're the son of a single father, you cocksucking imbecile who gets his cheeks clapped by dudes every night. I dare you… I double dare you, you pink dildo.

Same goes for other losers on who knows how many sites.

Sincerely yours, CrimsonWolfAuthor

----------------

And then there are the pirate readers. These losers even have the audacity to justify themselves with a righteous tone when willingly stealing from someone's house and then acting as if they're the victims.

Some even go as far as informing these site owners about the new chapters as if they're doing a favor to me and a great service to the rest of humanity.

Now tell me… when your family is struggling and you are greatly pressurized mentally, physically and monetarily… wouldn't you also feel frustrated and lose your mind?

How am I supposed to feel about this when being pushed into a corner?

And to see what very little I earn being stolen by these motherfuckers, something that I have to work for till late night for getting instantly put on across the pirate sites… It is simply too disheartening.

I understand that not everyone has money and many readers don't even have a job. I completely relate to that situation.

BUT… You can at least come to the official site and read the free chapters available. It's not even gonna cost you a single penny.

Given my speed, it takes even less time till you get new fresh chapters daily. This also helps me keep on making a living and also focus here.

Sadly, I value my vision for this novel. But if I'm forced to write only for the sake of money… I can always change the whole genre of the novel into Romance, Harem, Fanservice and those repeating plots of cultivation novels in order to sell more.

Just writing filler chapters full of bullshit and no actual relevance to the plot… I can do that too for the sake of pumping up the numbers.

Because the way things stand… I sometimes feel like completely stopping the whole writing thing altogether and look for a job outside that can at least give me a stable income instead of losing it to piracy.

But the loyal readers who support the work for being different than most of the ones we find these days is the main reason why I haven't shifted the story in that direction or sacrificed the sanctity of the plotline even now. I owe these guys a lot and don't wish to ruin their experience of reading.

But the whole scenario is truly infuriating to the point I even have to write a completely off-topic chapter like this that has no relation to the story.

----------------

To my loyal readers on the official site, I sincerely apologize for this whole outburst of emotions and nagging but sometimes… you have to speak your mind otherwise it will just eat you from the inside and greatly affect the future writing aspects and my mindset towards the whole novel itself.

I hope it hasn't ruined your taste in the novel's story so far and I'm always up for corrections in grammatical errors, spelling mistakes and suggestions so do mention them when you see it. I don't mind rewriting chapters to improve and elevate the reading experience.

Well, if you still don't feel like dropping the novel, I'll see you in the next chapter.
