"I still can't believe my daughter became Chunin before the main house's prince." A feminine looking, middle-aged man with clear eyes sat on the dining table, staring at Nozomi with a warm smile.
"It seems like our baby will become the 'hope'[1] of the clan." Placing a rice bowl in front of her husband, Nozomi's mother sat next to both of them and laughed heartily. She looked young for her age and had a bright smile that would make any man's heart melt.
"Stop it, mom..." A little embarrassed, Nozomi blushed and hid behind her rice bowl.
"Anyway, how did you learn the revolving heaven? Even we can't use that technique..."
"When Hiashi used it, I just did the same thing as him..." Shrugging, Nozomi started eating her breakfast. Next to her, both parents looked at each other with wry smiles.
Although she made it sound easy, what she did was hardly understandable. To copy a technique after seeing it once... What sort of talent was this?
"You see, I was right after all. If you stopped reading books all day, maybe you could become stronger than me!" Her father was a Jonin, therefore one of Konoha's primary resources. Although he wasn't very well known, his ability could not be underestimated.
"As if I would!" Clenching the book near her like a treasure, Nozomi sent a glare towards her father. "You're a brute, so you'd never understand! Even Jiraiya-sensei is more cultured than you, and he's a pervert!"
"Ugh..." Embarrassed by his own daughter, Nozomi's father could only look to his wife for help. Sighing, she patted her daughter's head affectionately.
"Dear, you can do whatever you want, but you should consider your father's feelings. After all, so much talent should be used appropriately!"
"Hmph... I'll think about it..." Continuing her breakfast, Nozomi blocked both of them off.
"Yuji! Come out this instant!" As they were enjoying some quality time together, they heard a shout from outside.
Recognizing the voice, Nozomi's father abruptly rose and sped towards the entrance, sliding the door open. Outside was the clan head, a furious expression plastered on his face.
"Lord Ryuu... What has this humble one done to offend you?" Bowing his head in respect, Nozomi's father felt a chill down his spine. It was never good when the clan head looked like this.
"Hmph... You don't know? Bring your daughter out this instant!" Roaring, Ryuu pointed at the door. Looking back, Yuji saw both his wife and daughter, both a little scared.
"N-Nozomi... Come here with dad for a second, Ryuu-sama wants to say something." All blood left Yuji's face as he feared for the worst. What had his daughter done? Would there be consequences?
"Mhm..." Nodding with uncertainty, Nozomi slowly walked up to her father and stood next to him. Seeing her, the clan head looked repulsed.
"You committed a grave sin, yet you dare to wear that jacket in front of me?" Seeing Nozom's flack-jacket, Ryuu felt like something was burning inside of him. "Take it off and hand it over!"
He didn't care if the Hokage had personally given it to her. Right now, they were in his domain, and he made the rules.
"I..." Running her hand through the vest, Nozomi looked reluctant. Looking up to the clan head, she made an angry expression. "What sin have I committed? I earned this through hard work and dedication!"
She refused to let go of the proof of her growth. Thanks to this vest, she had gained the recognition of her teammates and sensei! She was a Chunin!
