I Got 999 Level With One Cut

C93 Internal Combustion Engine

C93 Internal Combustion Engine

0No matter which city it is, a power outage is always the thing people fear the most.

Because no one could be sure when the call would come. A few cities no longer had electricity because of a power outage. Two hundred years ago, in St. Newcomen, the huge city that accommodated 1.5 million people was extinguished forever. It was named after Watt's disciple, the Saint Thomas Newcomen. It was enough to show its importance.

It was an impossible task to move all 1.5 million people out of the city in the darkness. After the central mainframe of St. Newcomen was shut down for twelve hours, the Archbishop of St. Newcomen thought that this was the sign that Holy Spirit Watt had decided to punish him with death. Therefore, he led all the clergy of the church and a small portion of the most powerful and richest people in the city onto the steam train that left the city at night.

They did not say a word to the 1.5 million citizens that they had left behind.

As for what happened between those people who were left behind in the darkness, no one knew until now. The 1.5 million people who had lost their energy and food, in the absolute darkness... Some of them might still have hope, while others knew that they would die for sure.

After they left the city on steam train, the archbishop ordered them to blow up the only train tunnel in St. Newcomen that could be connected to the outside world. The train tunnel was completely blocked by the rubble and debris that had collapsed.

This should have been the end of the story.

Until a month later, in the upper class rich district of the underground Falton 120 kilometers away from the St. Newcomen... A man who was on his last breath crawled out of the sewer. He was covered in blood and his body was skinny. The first thing he said when he saw someone was to ask someone to give him some food and water. This man's pocket contained proof of his identity as a citizen of St. Newcomen. He was the only survivor of that city.

No one knew what happened to him, and no one knew how he crossed the distance of over a hundred kilometers between the two cities to come to Falton. Because when the guards stationed in the Rich District saw his appearance, they thought he was a beggar from the Lower City District. Thus, they shot him in the head. In the end, the only survivor in St. Newcomen died just like that.

No one knew how long the darkness would last.

The little girl held Riko's hand tightly along the way and stared at the lighting skill in front of Riko. The light created by this magic could be the only source of light in the dark city.

Fortunately, the blackout in Funnel City did not last long.

One minute passed, and the sound of machinery was heard again. The entire city lit up with bits and pieces of lights once again. However, this one minute was enough for Riko to meet up with Shu Hsingnan and the rest. Moreover, this one minute was enough for them to shake off the religious police.

They landed on the roof of a house. The blonde girl's face still looked a little bit more like the Palewhite. It was unknown whether it was because she was born like this or because she was scared by the Palewhite. Riko gently touched her head.

"What's your name?"

She did not answer immediately. She carefully observed the silver-haired girl who had asked her questions and pinched Riko's white robe. Because the satin used to make the white robe looked like an unknown and mysterious material to her. After she finished doing all of this, she spoke softly.

"My name is Carol Lenovo."

Meiko replaced Riko and asked the next question.

"Do you have a family? Where are they?"

Carol's eyes were full of vigilance, but in the end, she still pointed towards the depths of Funnel City.

"Then." Riko blinked her eyes.

In this funnel-like city, Riko kept walking down. She could feel the heavy and dark industrial style of this place. The huge gear rumbled as it rotated, and the black steam pipe moved through the structure. The black oil dripped down from nowhere, and the small people moved between the huge machines. Her first impression of this place was that it was very depressing.

The feeling of flying for the first time scared Carol, who had never left the ground. She held Riko's hand tightly the whole time. It was only after she landed on the ground that she was able to speak intermittently.

"What is this?"

Shu Hsingnan blinked her eyes and smiled.

"This is called magic."

"Magic."

Before Carol had time to think about this unfamiliar word, the door in front of her opened. A girl who looked 70% similar to her, but looked a little older, appeared.

"Carol, come in quickly."

She slightly widened the crack of the door and Carol ran over. The girl let Carol hide behind her and she stared at Riko and the rest with distrust. Until Carol pulled the corner of her grey cloth clothing.

"It was them who rescued me from the police. They are not bad people. They also know something called magic."

Carol Lenovo's elder sister began to carefully observe Riko and the others. She saw everyone wearing exquisite magic robes from Earth. She was a little puzzled.

"You guys are from Upper City District?"

"No." Meiko shook her head. "We came from a very far place."

"Ethan? Or Lierberg?"

"Neither. We are from the outside. " Angarmarin pointed to the sky.

The girl fell silent. She seemed to be struggling for a long time.

"Can I trust you guys?" She asked softly.

Lorin kept nodding her head. Her funny look completely ruined the atmosphere.

"Then come in."

The girl completely opened the door.

"As you can see, I am Carol's elder sister, Edina Lenovo. Thank you for helping her."

The small room was filled with the unpleasant smell of machine oil. All kinds of messy parts were scattered all over the floor. Edina skillfully walked between a large pile of metal fragments to the corner of the wall. She lifted a dirty bed sheet.

What appeared in front of her was an extremely fine mechanical structure.

"The people who control this world are the forces called Steam Divine Cult. They call my invention the Devil's Engine. Edina carefully blew away the dust that did not exist on the machine. A proud expression appeared on her face. "But I am more willing to use another name to call it."

"Internal combustion engine."
